New theatre show crowdsources plot in real time

Customarily, audiences at the theatre are encouraged to switch off their mobile devices. However one theatre company, Stan’s Cafe, is actively encouraging people to turn on and tune in with whichever devices they can get their hands on during the performance of their latest project, which launches in autumn.

‘Tuning Out With Radio Z’ is a unique theatrical event asks audience members to bring a phone or a laptop to write text, send ideas, submit images and make requests to influence the action unfolding on stage. The show is simulcast as a radio show, allowing audience members within the actual theatre and those simply listening in online to participate and shape the content of the evening.
